Economic Report: Anxious Americans feel a little better about the economy, but not much, consumer sentiment shows

The numbers: A survey of consumer sentiment rose slightly to 51.1 in July from an all-time low, but Americans were still deeply worried about high inflation and talk of a possible recession.

The sentiment survey fell to 50 in June to marked the lowest level since it began being published on a monthly basis in 1978. The report is produced by the University of Michigan.
